Re: Gamercast of Thrones

I stay away from leaks and spoilers, I don't even like to see trailers or screen caps. I either want it completely spoiled, or I want to know nothing. Those are the two best ways to watch something you haven't seen, imo. There's been a noticeable dropoff in quality, to be sure. We now know, without ...

Re: Gamercast of Thrones

I'm really starting to agree with you ydte about the "teleporting" thing. The logistical structure of the story has evaporated. Things only happen now for thematic reasons, rather than physical ones. It doesn't make the story less interesting or compelling, but it's gone from "cute plot holes" to "g...

Re: Burnfire on CNN

I watched a video on Vice today and it was just...crippling. Hearing these Nazis rant about "Communist Jews" and "Criminal Niggers" running their local government, in fucking South Carolina no less. Then unironically supporting Confederate traitors as American heroes, a literal contradiction in term...

Re: The MOVIE Thread

I don't watch many movies either. Plenty of good ones but too many eh ones. And I rarely find others have seen them ad well. I find I watch a lot more TV instead. There's at least a good chance there that someone is watching it too.

Re: Gamercast of Thrones

Agreed. Despite what I said, I do think they could do a lot better. It's just clearly not what they're good at. That being said, I do think the attack on the wall and the assault on the port by the walkers were legitimately great. Some of the fights near the three eyed Raven were good too. Battle of...

Re: Gamercast of Thrones

My sense of the conflict, as far as I understand how Martin wanted to write this story, is that the earlier parts establish what kind of characters we're dealing with, but it's left to you to decide who you root for. Nobody is really the protagonist, with the possible exception of Jon Snow. Everybod...

Re: Gamercast of Thrones

I think after seeing Dragonfire, switching sides is out for Jamie. No matter how bad it gets, he'll remember that battle. It's just not the kind of thing you can ignore, it's too personal. There's a heavy degree of entertaining spectacle in earlier fights, but they're fucking preposterous otherwise....

Re: Gamercast of Thrones

Agreed. I still think the show is pretty bad at directing fights, blackwater Bay is still the standard in that respect, and it's not great either. But this was definitely entertaining. The pacing in this one felt strange. It feels like, with the benefit of hindsight, they gained *a lot* of structure...

Re: Whatcha playing?

Nothing is wrong with the scene, it's just too hard, lol. I don't have the time or the interest to remain competitive anymore, and I was never very good at it to begin with.

What's special about PUBG? Isn't it kinda just Day Z minus the Z's?

Re: The MOVIE Thread

It's creepy. It seems far fetched until you realize that a lot of stuff from history was a lot like it. It reminds me of ISIS or the Taliban or something. I get the feeling. I don't watch a lot of big movies anymore because they tend not to have solid film making behind them. Solid production values...

Re: The MOVIE Thread

Thanks dude, that's a great list, I'll have to refer back to it.

I started Handmaid's tale with my gf, it's rough. It feels eerily real. Really well done.

Have you had a chance to see Dunkirk? Was it any good?

Re: Gamercast of Thrones

I'm actually liking it a lot so far. Given the nature of the story, it was inevitable that the end game couldn't be as interesting as the buildup, particularly since they're completely out of source material. The siege scene was silly but they're saving their budget for future stuff. And GoT has alw...

Re: Whatcha playing?

I played through oxenfree recently, it was pretty cool. Other than that, I've sort of been hopping from game to game. I bought a bunch of new ones but none of them have really impressed me that much. I also went to EVO again this year. It was awesome but it's soured me on smash and competitive gamin...

Re: Whatcha playing?

PC is the best platform aside from technical issues and price, so that makes sense. I'm excited for the Metroid 2 remake on 3ds though, looks cool. I think what it is, we've just played so many games over the years, unless there's something really novel and compelling about them, they're just not ty...
