Re: The MOVIE Thread

sooo i watched baby driver the other day andddd... i really didn't enjoy it. like almost at all. i only got halfway through before i turned it off because i was bored. what was i missing? there has to be a reason for why it got such widespread acclaim. the only thing that really stood out to me was ...

Re: Hey what's up Dawg? (Generic Chat Thread)

isn't the terminating condition in a linked list the while !curr-next? that makes sense regarding trees - at least from a pseudocode perspective. the question is whether i'll remember it when i need to write it on my own. It's normal to be confused about this stuff by the way. It takes your brain ti...

Re: Hey what's up Dawg? (Generic Chat Thread)

that does help thanks i can kinda see it now. as for implementations linked lists (circular, doubly etc) and BSTs are the first data structures we're required to traverse recursively that i'm being exposed to. i think a linear linked list you just wanna call itself while !curr->next and set curr to ...

Re: Hey what's up Dawg? (Generic Chat Thread)

hey saladman do you have any recommendations as far as learning recursion goes? I'm close to transferring to university full time and the final lower division CS class requires all the algorithms to be done recursively, but we haven't touched on it at all in any of my classes so my brain isn't wired...

Re: Whatcha playing?

I've never touched the original but from everything I've heard it's just flatout better across the board - so much so that I see people recommending to skip the first (which is what I did). I'm about 40 hours in (in act 3) and tbh I have very few criticisms with the game. the writing and choices are...

Re: Whatcha playing?

will do. i picked up Divinity Original Sin 2 in the meantime after all the hype and it's really good. it's every bit as complex, deep and engaging as people made it out to be. it is ruthlessly difficult though. part of it might be that i just don't understand the combat and gameplay loop yet (i didn...

Re: Whatcha playing?

i got XCOM 2 in a humble bundle early this year and dropped it after an hour. idk why honestly i didn't hate it or anything. i should revisit. i love those kind of tactics games, but i guess the game didn't grip me enough right away to keep playing it.

Re: The MOVIE Thread

i looked through Lynch's filmography and i've actually never seen any of his work somehow. i checked out the pilot last night so that was my first experience with his stuff. i enjoyed it. i'm guessing i'm only scratching the surface of how weird this show is gonna get. i was also surprised at how fu...

Re: The MOVIE Thread

i haven't. i was told to start from the original so that's what i was planning on doing. bummer to hear though. i've pretty much heard good things about it across the board (both original and new).

Re: The MOVIE Thread

saw IT last night. i knew very little about the movie since i never saw the original or read the book. was basically an entirely new experience for me. i enjoyed it for sure and pretty much agree with your assessment that it was a fun film to watch. very entertaining, even if it wasn't all that scar...

Re: Gamercast of Thrones

that's how i feel about the show saladin. it's still a solid show but when you have the first 4 seasons to compare it to, and even 5 & 6 to a lesser extent, it sticks out like a sore thumb. if the show had started out like this i probably wouldn't watch it but we've all got 7 seasons invested and bo...

Re: Darkwood

yeah they wanted everyone to be able to play it and would rather you pirate it directly from them than buy it from a key reseller if you're low on cash. even if you don't want to pirate it steam refunds makes it pretty risk free. you'll know within 2 hours whether it's your kind of game. re story: i...

Re: Darkwood

so 4 years later this is finally out. never expected it to get finished and felt like i wasted the 10 bucks i put in to kickstart it, but it's finally done and it's great. you'd think it wouldn't be that scary because it's a top down game, but outside of your cone of vision the surroundings are obsc...
