In the depths of the ancient machine, a new theme awakens

Post by Ransom » Mon Sep 15, 2014 13:31

PF'S SKIN STIRS like running wax, jowls receding, weathered skin pulling taut. Monstrous, antediluvian gradients peel away to reveal layers of young colour. Weak-chinned corners sharpen into chiseled confidence. Yes, this skin is fresh: but the machinery behind PF's eyes creaks with age, and frankly it's a bit of a shock that it still receives software updates at all.

Our new default theme is a slightly modified Ariki, a delightful and responsive flat theme. The modification I have made is, of course, the constantly randomising header copy. The original meaning of the title 'Portal Forums' has passed into anachronism, and I thought the board ought to reflect that. As an aside, it's remarkable to me there's even enough sites still using phpBB that the flat design trend actually made it to the platform. There weren't many to choose from, though, let me tell you.

Most of the old themes have been retained if you simply can't abide all this fresh designerly nonsense. All this... this... typography.

This thread is for feedback and general grousing.

Just using my old theme. No biggie. Didn't like the new one much.

I still use SFCentar. The darker colors are easier on the eyes.
