At the risk of being a pretentious dick, I find writing like that lazy and boring.

It's too easy to make your character just out for revenge, it appeals to the basest human instincts. And since you get to invent why he's out for revenge, and who he's up against, you can make your villains into whatever absurd caricature best justifies the bloodlust.

It's too contrived. Unless you're fighting people like those Mexican drug gangs that execute people with chainsaws, real life is rarely so cut-and-dry. They're rarely done well because the only interesting place the story can go is "ZOMG, did he goez too far?!"

When you peel away the facade, revenge porn is bloodlust masked by self-righteousness. It's why I hate the Punisher. His family dies so suddenly it's Hitler time on anyone who so much as stole a pack of gum. And it's always exclusively the poor. You'll notice that a corporate boardroom complicit with, say, getting cacao powder from West African slave labor is never on his shit list, for some reason.

Writing like that holds the industry back. I haven't seen it yet, but from what it sounds like, I agree with KoB. This is a really interesting idea, and the fact that it's turned into basically a gritty superhero trope is pretty stupid.

Eh. I love the Punisher and I love this game, so maybe I am some sort of fag. Anyway, this is, aside from Red Dead Redemption, the only open world game (that isn't made by Bethesda) that not only feels alive to me but I can be immersed, just walking down the street while it's raining at night and people will be just doing their own shit... I love it.

Dude, it's 2014 and you're still using fag as a pejorative? Come on.

Anyway, the open world certainly does look cool. But I kind of got my fill of that from games like LA Noire or GTA V.

In fact, that's probably the best question to ask. What's Watch_Dogs like compared to GTA V?

not sure because i personally disliked GTA V and didn't end up playing much of it as a result.

i mean from what i can compare it's pretty similar. the shooting is similar, the world is similar (as gordon said lot of people just doing their own thing, some mini game fluffy stuff), the mission structure is basically the same. the driving is pretty bad (super fast acceleration, collisions feel weird, poor handling), but i mean outside of that they're really not much different.

i guess it's more or less GTA with hacking. less over the top ridiculousness. it takes itself far more seriously.

i'd say if you already got your fix on open world games Watch Dogs is a poor investment, but if you ever do want that it's a great investment.

Who gives a fuck about that word? A lot of people I talk to, not just where I live but other states still use it. Besides, I'm not calling anyone gay... in the words of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, you can still be a fag without being gay... it's just kind of an all-around word. IMO it's not a problem unless there's hate behind it.

Watch Dogs in comparison to GTA 5 is a more compact game. There's less to do, fewer guns, fewer vehicles, less everything... but I think it has a much more coherent story and I prefer dark, rainy Chicago to sunny beaches and deserts of LA.

You could probably say the same thing about spic or the n-word (are we allowed to say that yet?) or any number of slurs. But it's just immature. You want the social power of the word without its inherent, and inescapable, shittyness and evil. Even gay people shouldn't really be ok with saying it.

Words have meaning beyond their intent, and carry meaning even if we explicitly attempt to undermine that meaning.

It's also just lazy, and encourages bad writing and communication.

On topic though, I'm definitely gonna wait until it goes on sale. It's nothing I haven't basically already played in other games.

I will, at some point. But I don't think I'd pay more than 30 dollars for it, not from what I've seen of it.

Best run I've ever had, and it was with the Nightmare perk which makes everything insanely hard. But I just got too beefy. Until I was oneshot by the final boss. LOL.

My beachfront property in The Forest.

The cannibals were nice enough to lend me some extra building material.

Is The Forest any good? What genre is it, like FPS/RPG/survival hybrid kinda thing? I was thinking about getting it but early access can suck my balls

it's a survival horror. you scavenge, build, eat - all that shit every survival game is doing. then you fight off bad dudes.

it's good for what it is, but it's incredibly bare bones and loaded with bugs. don't spend your money. there's nothing you can get out of it now that you can't get when it comes out, especially with a horror game.

The Forest is fantastic, but yes, it's horribly, laughably broken at the moment.

It's frustrating. Not because the game is bad, but because the game is so damn good, but you can't really play it yet.

More specifically, it's really, really easy to die and savegames don't work correctly yet. On top of that, a lot of the weapons are bugged to hell.

I'd definitely say check out gameplay footage before giving them any money. But, in my opinion, even just the little bit that I got to play would still be worth even if nothing else got added from this point on.

Nice, from the bonus days right?

This week has been awesome for high CP encounters. And the daily bonuses and item increases are nice too.
