help me install mods

Post by big poppa fluff » Mon Sep 14, 2009 13:13

I would like to install some nice mods. I found them from tex.nexus I downloaded the oblivion mod manager and the update for it and a few mods but they came up as 7z files. So I downloaded a bitzipper program to open them. But I still came import them into The mod manager. What the hell am i not doing right? Please remember I'm new at this.

I guess... oh and this should be in the "oblivion mods" subforum for next time you have a modding question

Okkkaaayyy

I can't remember if you need a mod manager or not.

Take the mod you want, and extract it or whatever into its component files (do this in a seperate folder), then Copy and Paste these files into C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data Or wherever you have Oblivion installed on your PC.

Keep a backup of any files you replace, just in case.

You can go ahead and delete the extracted files folder (NOT THE OBLIVION ONE CHRIST) if you've successfully copied them through, you can always download them again, right?

Then start up Oblivion.
Instead of playing, however, click Data files. This shows the available mods you have, and you double click to turn them on. I can't remember, but im fairly sure you'll need to start a new game. Keep a backup of your saved games to make sure. Then close that mother up and start the game.

Congrats, you've ruined Oblivion. (Joking, of course, the fuck if I know what you're doing to it).

I finally got it after a few trial and errors. a couple mods are still giving me hell though, "Poseidoniis_Super_Sexy_CM_Companions_15_pack" and "Oblivion_Pose_Pack_III".

for the companion one about half of the girls dont have faces, and for the pose one, nothing happens. i dont know if I installed it wrong or Im not controlling them right. A walk through on how to run this mod would be nice.

With specific mods, i'm afraid we can't help.

If you google the mod you may get to the developers site. There will be information, and you could probably contact the chap who designed it himself.
