The spiders in Skyrim are the Cliff Racers of Morrowind

No, dragons are. Except more annoying because they take longer to kill.

Cliff Racers were annoying but they never killed me. There were just alot of them. With dragons, they kill me sometimes if I don't use a potion quick enough (fuck Ancient Dragons) and they have alot of health. Plus they always show up at bad times.

Spiders are easy as shit to kill if you use Archery. Seriously, level 100 Archery with a maxed perk tree and Legendary Daedric bow with sneak attack crit x3 = you win.

Draugr Death Overlords? No problem.

Giants? 4 arrows, you dead.

Etc.

So I've played it for at least 20 hours now, and it's pretty fun.

It reminds me a lot of Fallout actually, even the lockpicking mini-game is the same.

The combat has been a bit simplistic and it's not too different from Oblivion, but it's different enough that it's still fun to play.

I'm actually looking more forward to modding it than I am playing it extensively. It's kind of funny, Bethesda releases these games that are essentially giant technology pieces with narrative crafted in. Then they release it, as a game, mostly unfinished. And then they let the modding community sit around and actually make the games fun. It's been true since Morrowind.

Uhhh when is that not true in an RPG?

When does having the best weapon with maxed-out skills not make you unstoppable?

Hell, doing that in Dark Souls, with the right rings, can net you 8,000 damage with a backstab or a parry. In Baldur's Gate 2, a maxed-out vorpal blade with a good warrior killed some of the toughest enemies in the game in one shot.

I get that Skyrim is pretty easy, but that was not the way to make your case for it.

I see where he's coming from, though. It does sound a little odd when put that way, but it's true. It's powerful, but then again it's as it should be really. It is a little OP but not enough to where it feels cheap relying on it. It was my main weapon and I still died a fair amount, and I started the game on Master.

At first it was hard as shit, but as with any RPG as you get better it gets more powerful. It was a thoroughly enjoyable way to play the game, too.

Here's an experience I had playing the game.

I was visiting Riverwood to talk to someone when a dragon attacked. It strafed the town before landing on a rooftop to start its attack.

The whole town mobilized to try and bring it down with arrows while I pounded it with fireballs. After a long fight, it landed in a clearing next to the river. It was on its last legs, but so was I, and I was out of mana and potions. That's when the town blacksmith, Aldor, rushed at it with a giant warhammer.

He distracted the dragon and diverted his fiery breath away from me and the other townsfolk. Charging through a column of flame, he smashed his hammer into its skull, delivering the final blow. But the fire took its toll and he and died of his wounds.

As the dragon faded to bone, the townsfolk all gathered to see what had happened and to mourn Aldor. Not knowing what to do, I floated his body down the river as a burial. The town now has no blacksmith, and his children no father.

So, with no previous interest in the craft, I've picked up the hammer that smashed the dragon and the forge Aldor left behind. In his memory, I'll live in his house until I master blacksmithing. Then, I'll craft my armor out of the bones of the dragon he slayed, and I'll make Aldor's hammer the fiercest damn weapon in Skyrim.

Then I'll go finish what Aldor started.
